How we use apps when we travel

We usually combine at least two apps when we’re on the road, especially when deciding where to sleep. One app with a large community is great for quick reality checks (fresh reviews, photos, recent warnings). Another, more curated app is useful for quality, rules, facilities and reliable services.
And no matter the app: always read the latest reviews. A place that was calm two months ago might be full, closed or changed today.

FAQ – Common questions about campervan apps

Which app is best for campervan stopovers in Europe?

Answer: For the most options and fastest decisions, Park4night is often best. For more “classic” camping/camping sites with clear information, Campercontact is strong. For budget camping, ACSI is a good choice.

Which app is best for finding campervan camping spots?

Answer: It depends on how you travel and which country you’re in. iOverlander is often best for off-grid and more remote places, while Park4night usually offers the widest choice near you thanks to its large community. Whatever app you use, always read the most recent reviews, check local signs and rules, and keep a backup spot in mind if a place is full or doesn’t feel right.

Behöver man premium?

Answer: Not always, you can get a lot done on most free apps. Premium may be more worthwhile if you want offline mode, more filters, and no ads, especially on longer trips.

Is one app enough, or should you use two?

Answer: You can get by with one, but two apps provide better security: a large community app (e.g. Park4night) + a more curated/budget one (e.g. ACSI or ADAC).

Can you trust wild camping tips in apps?

Answer: Use them as inspiration. Rules differ between countries and can change locally. Read recent reviews, check signage, and respect local rules.

How do you find safer places to sleep?

Answer: Look at recent reviews, choose places with multiple confirmations, arrive before dark if you can, and always have a plan B nearby. And dare to ask the locals!
